Paterson Ewen, Critical Works: Works on Paper, 1949-91 (Art Gallery of Hamilton, 1992). The catalogue accompanied my solo curatorial debut with a major exhibition of Ewen's works on paper. Research for this project was based on my thesis completed at Queen's University, 1989.
I followed up with Bryan Maycock at NSCAD years later regarding the infamous Pie in the Sky exhibition in which Ewen first exhibited his phenomena paintings including Drop of Water on a Hot Surface. The painting reproduced a diagram taken directly from a handbook on phenomena (that I found in the basement of Queen's Library in 1988). The large painting was folded and eventually destroyed ... although, it lives on here thanks to Bryan.
